Is it Banting Friendly: Carb Smart High Oleic Sunflower Oil

The question on everyones lips over the last few days since the launch of the new Carb Smart High Oleic sunflower oil has been - is it REALLY Banting friendly?

In short, that answer is a resounding yes, but let me explain it a bit more below.

High Oleic Sunflower Oil

Normal sunflower oil is highly processed, we hate it and wouldn't advise anyone to use it.

It is intensely heated and chemicals are added to extract the oils.

Thats not the worst of it though - it also has 66% PUFA's (Polyunsaturated fatty acids) which is very very high, and very very bad.

I know if someone sees sunflower oil on the group now they're all like "NO!!" but this one is different...and this is why:

High oleic sunflower oil is cold pressed so no heating and no chemicals - and only has 5% PUFA's.

In fact, if you look at the fatty acid profile, olive oil has 9.9% PUFA's and 73% MUFA's...whereas high oleic sunflower has 82% MUFA's.

This makes it high in omega 9 (high levela of omega 9 are good) and low in omega 6 (low levels of omega 6 are good).

See table below:

I can only imagine that those saying its not Banting Friendly aren't aware of the fat profile of this amazing product.

Dr Joseph Mercola (Mercola.com) is quite a well known doctor who has a great informative site. He would not put his name on anything sub par, and he sells a High Oleic Sunflower oil too. Food for thought!
