I am always looking for new ideas on different style breads. My mom comes down to cape town once every 3 or 4 months, then I bake enough for her to freeze and take back with her.
This version is awesome as the bread takes on the flavour of the tomato juices while it cooks!
4 cherry tomatoes
200g heba pap
1 tbs baking powder
400ml amasi or milk or water or yoghurt
Pinch of salt
60g grated cheese
Preheat oven to 180C.
In a bowl, mix together the heba pap, baking powder, cheese and half the tomatoes adding them to the mix too.
In a separate bowl, mix eggs and liquid and salt.
Mix dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
Grease and Line a baking tin with baking paper, and press down mixture into tin.
Bake for 60 minutes, remove from tin and bake for a further 15 minutes.
Cool completely before slicing!
